Self employed joiner James Campbell (29) and his wife Angela (27) woke up on Christmas Day to discover they were £1 million richer in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle draw.
The couple, from Liverpool, is one of 25 lucky ticket-holders to scoop a £1 million prize on the special UK-only Euromillions Millionaire Raffle on Christmas Eve (24 December 2010).
James is still in shock after checking his ticket on Christmas Day and finding out they’d become millionaires overnight. He said: “I checked my EuroMillions numbers first on Teletext but we hadn’t won a prize on the main game so I went on the lottery website to check the Millionaire Raffle number at the bottom of the ticket. I couldn’t believe it when I saw we had matched one of the Raffle numbers – I gave it to Angela to double check and she confirmed we’d won £1 million!
“We were having a quiet Christmas – just us and the kids – so we rang some close family to tell them the news and then we rang Camelot. I put the ticket in a money tin in a kitchen cupboard and we then got on with Christmas as usual but we felt so sick, we couldn’t eat our Christmas dinner!”
The couple, who have two young children, now plan to take a holiday in the New Year. Top of their shopping list is to buy a house as they are renting their current home, followed by a new car but before they do, James plans to get Angela, a nursery nurse, a present of driving lessons as she can’t drive.
Lorraine snuods like a complete (fill in the appropriate word that comes to mind). Loved But there were a few of us who had the ability to start exactly where the rhythm dictated. Now that’s a skill, Debbie. I would have killed to has watched that scene unfold. Snicker.
